At SRT K-9 Services our dogs go through realistic drug detecting trainings.
We use real drugs, not pseudo drug scents. Our dogs are taught to detect
controlled substances such as marijuana, cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, and
methamphetamines.
When a dog detects any one of these substances he is taught to signal the find
with a passive alert; an unassisted sit position. They are never allowed direct
physical contact with the drugs; the dogs are highly trained to only detect the
scent of the drug(s).
To improve detection skills of both, the dog and its handler, training is provided in
many realistic environments such as:
At SRT K-9 Services, bomb dogs are put through realistic and rigorous explosive
detection training.
Real explosive materials are used in the trainings of these dogs as opposed to
simulated scents.
Each dog learns to detect the unique scent of different explosive materials. By the
end of the training cycle a bomb dog will be able to detect approximately 15
different combinations of explosives.
As Passive-Alert Dogs, our Bomb Dogs are trained to signal the presence of
anything suspicious by assuming an unassisted sit position near a suspected
explosive device.
Any SRT K-9 Services Dog will confidently work in airports, public facilities, ports of
call, campuses, shopping centers, and combat zones.
A Dual Purpose Dog is trained for:
●
Patrol and Narcotics Detection or
●
Patrol and Explosives Detection
Acquiring a K-9 Police Dog capable of providing a dual purpose is highly cost
effective.
Any of these combinations guarantee a fully trained K-9 Police Dog skilled in
tracking, handler protection, off-leash obedience, article, area and building
search, and criminal apprehension.
Cell Phone Detections – A new skill for K-9 Dogs
Cell phones are fast becoming the strongest contraband inside Correction
Facilities difficult to track because of their concealable size; easily smuggled
into any area. Inmates use them for operations such as running criminal
operations on the outside to planning escapes, and much more.
